BOTOX® vs. Dysport® – What’s the Difference?
Both BOTOX® and Dysport® are FDA-approved injectable treatments made from botulinum toxin type A, a purified protein that temporarily relaxes targeted muscles. They’re most used to:
- Reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles
- Prevent new lines from forming
- Treat certain medical conditions like migraines or excessive sweating
How do BOTOX® and Dysport® work?
They work by blocking the signals from nerves to muscles, so the muscles can’t contract as strongly. This softens expression lines and creates a smoother, more refreshed appearance.
What areas can be treated?
- Forehead lines
- Frown lines between the brows (glabellar lines or “11s”)
- Crow’s feet around the eyes
- Bunny lines on the nose
- Lip lines, chin dimpling, and neck bands
Both products can also be used medically for migraines, jaw clenching (TMJ), and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).
