Request an AppointmentWhat is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive skin resurfacing treatment that gently exfoliates the outermost layer of dead skin cells using a specialized device. It helps reveal smoother, brighter, and more even-toned skin—with no downtime.
What are the benefits of microdermabrasion?
- Dull, tired-looking skin
- Fine lines and mild wrinkles
- Uneven skin tone or texture
- Mild acne and acne scarring
- Sun damage and age spots
- Clogged or enlarged pores
- Overall skin radiance
What will my skin look like afterward?
After treatment, your skin may look slightly pink or flushed, similar to a mild sunburn. This usually fades within a few hours. Your skin will feel slightly pink or flushed.
How many sessions will I need?
Results are noticeable after just one session, but for optimal improvements—especially concerns like acne scars or hyperpigmentation—we typically recommend a series of 4–6 treatments spaced 2–4 weeks apart.
Can I combine microdermabrasion with other treatments?
Absolutely. Microdermabrasion pairs well with facials, chemical peels, or light therapy. It can also be done before other treatments to help enhance product absorption and results.
What happens during microdermabrasion treatment?
Before treatment begins, the skin is carefully and gently cleansed to remove dirt and impurities. Then the crystals are delivered to the skin’s surface using a special handheld device moved over the skin surface. As the crystals slough away the upper layer of damaged skin, a vacuum tip removes debris from the skin surface, so the healthy deeper layer of skin is revealed. The length of treatment depends on the size of the area being treated. Once treatment is complete, the skin will probably appear pink, similar to the aftereffects of a mild sunburn. Moisturizers can be applied to protect skin and keep it smooth and supple, and additional care instructions will be supplied at the appointment.
Can microdermabrasion be used on anyone?
Microdermabrasion is a relatively mild treatment option that can be an ideal choice for most patients. However, it may not be an ideal solution for everyone. People with certain chronic skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis may not be good candidates, especially during flare-ups. During the consultation appointment, a complete array of treatment options can be evaluated to determine which one offers the best option based on the patient’s skin type, existing conditions and treatment objectives.
